TraumaOnetm

Biomet Microfixation is changing the face of craniomaxillofacial trauma care. We invite you to experience TraumaOne firsthand, a streamlined trauma system with a complete offering of implants and instrumentation while still allowing for customization to fit your individual needs for facial fracture fixation.

System Highlights

Trocar Systems Made Easy

  • Built-in drill guide allows the surgeon to go from drilling through a guide to inserting a screw through the cannula by simply switching a button.  Surgeons can keep their eyes on the field and minimize the chance of falling off of the plate when removing a traditional drill guide, which can result in difficulty finding the pilot hole.
  • A cheek retractor with fiberoptic capabilities to illuminate the fracture site as well as calibrated drill bits for bicortical screw measurements.

Rapid IMF Application

  • Innovative blade design that engages the entire IMF screw head provides strong retention and stability during screw insertion, reducing the risk of blade slippage and accidental injury to the mucosa.
  • Blade markings correspond to screw hole positions so the surgeon can properly position the screw for wire passing purposes.

Plate and Screw Interchangeability

  • Surgeon has complete flexibility to determine the appropriate screws and plates for each patient.
Three mid-face plate designs (orbital, standard, and rigid) are all compatible with 1.5mm screws. Four mandible plate designs (1.0mm, 1.6mm, 2.0mm, and 2.6mm thickness) are all compatible with locking, non-locking, and self-drilling screws for every screw diameter.

Ratcheting Driver Handles

  • Drag-free ratcheting drivers that ratchet after the screw tip is inserted into cortical bone.
  • Handles have three modes that are easily adjusted by maneuvering a button: forward ratchet, fixed neutral, and reverse ratchet.

Bone Reduction Blade and Handle

  • Self-drilling blade simplifies fracture reduction by enabling the surgeon to firmly engage and reduce bony fragments before applying plates and screws.
  • T-bar handle allows the surgeon to apply increased force when manipulating loose bone fragments.

Reversible Large Angle Plates

  • Reversible large angle plates eliminate the need for traditional left and right angle designs and allows for the reduction of hospital inventory.

Customization

  • Plate caddies contain additional pockets for new plate designs.
  • Screw caddies have removable pegs that allow for the stocking of high usage items at increased par levels.
  • A finger mat for both the midface and mandible tiers to include specialty instruments or implants.

Specialty Instrumentation

Fernandes Orbital Retractor – This specialty instrument is easily adjusted intraoperatively to accommodate different orbital volumes and infraorbital rim curvatures.  This versatility enables a single instrument to provide improved retraction of the orbital contents for visualization of orbital floor fractures when compared to malleable retractors.  Once the appropriate working end size is determined, it can be used as a template for shaping a mesh implant.  The working end has depth marks at 24, 36, and 42mm that correspond to the anterior ethmoidal artery, posterior ethmoidal artery, and optic nerve canal positions.  A flexible handle allows for bending and lightweight design.

Full Guard – This specialty instrument is designed to assist in performing fibula osteotomies for mandibular reconstruction.  The device has three rows of fine teeth and an adjustable lower surface that firmly secure the fibula preventing unwanted movement.  The top surface has a slotted guard for reciprocating saw control to make straight line osteotomies, helping to ensure appropriate bony contact when performing closing wedge osteotomies.  The lower surface has a guard that extends to protect the pedicle from the saw during the osteotomy.  The ergonomic handles allows for fibula elevation and in situ osteotomies.
